Subject Division Catalysis

Duties

  • The Subject Division aims at enhancing scientific communication between universities, other research facilities and industry and acts as a discussion platform on current items of catalysis research.
  • Organization of congresses and symposia in all areas of catalysis research.
  • Planning and coordination of congresses in the catalysis area in cooperation with other national and international institutions.

Performance

  • Congresses and Symposia
    The Subject Division annually organizes the Jahrestreffen Deutscher Katalytiker (Annual Meeting on Research in Catalysis in Germany) as a platform for scientific discussions and information exchange on current issues of catalysis research.
    It supports subject sessions at the DECHEMA Annual Congresses. Furthermore it acts on recommendations of its members to organize events on special items of catalysis research.
    It also organizes events in cooperation with international organizations.

  • Information
    The Subject Division informs its members on events and research funding in the field of catalysis. A newsletter, edited by the Subject Division once or twice a year, provides current information.

  • International Cooperation
    The DECHEMA Subject Division Catalysis is either member of or cooperates with the following international organizations: The Subject Division is in contact with the working party on 'Chemical Engineering in the Applications of Catalysis' of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering - EFCE .

  • Awards
    Since several years the Subject Division awards young scientists in the field of catalysis the Jochen-Block-Prize. The present Year 2003 awardee3 are Lukas J. Gooßen, MPI für Kohlenforschung, Mülheim, and Olaf Hinrichsen, Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

Organziation

  • The DECHEMA Subject Division Catalysis is made up of members of DECHEMA e.V. interested in catalysis.
  • It pursues its aims in non-profit and non-competitive ways according to its own statutes.
  • It is open to any member of DECHEMA e.V. without additional fees (cf. DECHEMA Membership ).
  • Natural persons as well as legal entities may be members of the Subject Division. The latter name a personal representative.
  • The Subject Division elects an executive board, which manages the Subject Division and represents it in international organizations.

Facilities

  • To fulfil its tasks the Subject Division has access to the technical and administrative resources of DECHEMA e.V.
    The Subject Division is supported by scientific and administrative staff of DECHEMA e.V.
