ACHEMA 2006 – World Forum of the Process Industries

  • Equipment branches from all over the world set to present their know-how

  • The expertise of ACHEMA: systems solutions and synergy effects

ACHEMA 2006, which takes place from 15 to 19 May 2006 in Frankfurt am Main/Germany, is the branch summit for the process industries. As the leading international event for equipment suppliers of the chemical industry and all branches of the process industry ACHEMA is once again set to spark off trend-setting impulses for technology developments, worldwide contacts and new business networks. The event is expected to attract some 4,000 exhibitors and 200,000 visitors from all over the world.

The whole range of investment goods for the process industry under one roof

Nowhere else is such a comprehensive display of integrated solutions for all areas of process engineering to be found in such depth, scope and topicality. Moreover, the interaction of the individual exhibition groups generates synergies for exhibitors and visitors.

The following exhibition groups will be represented in 10 exhibition halls and the outdoor area, making a total of around 140,000 square metres of net exhibition space:
Research and Innovation; Engineering; Instrumentation, Control and Automation Techniques; Laboratory and Analytical Techniques; Mechanical Processes; Thermal Processes; Pumps, Compressors, Valves and Fittings; Pharmaceutical, Packaging and Storage Techniques; Industrial and Labour Safety; Materials Technology and Testing; Literature, Information, Learning and Teaching Aids. The General Topics Environmental Protection and Biotechnological Equipment will round off this panorama.

Globalization and the pressure to develop innovative products present a constant challenge to the equipment industries for the chemical industry, biotechnology, the pharmaceutical and food industries, environmental technology, materials technology and energy production to continually adapt to the changing needs of the market if they are to maintain their position in the league of successful global players. This explains the particular importance of ACHEMA today: it makes a worldwide impact and acts as a trail-blazer for all branches of the process industry. ACHEMA is where innovations celebrate their world premičres and investment decisions are made. It is also an unrivalled opportunity for personal networking.

The world’s leading event for integrated environmental protection and industrial biotechnology

Environmental protection and biotechnological equipment are integral general topics of ACHEMA. Both exploit the technical solutions provided by chemical process engineering. Not only is the holistic concept of production-integrated environmental protection one of the hallmarks of this event, but ACHEMA is also the most comprehensive event in the world in the field of environmental protection and biotechnology. One in three visitors to ACHEMA cites environmental protection as their main interest, and the same holds for biotechnology.

ACHEMA Special Show: Service Providers for the Process Industries

It is now traditional to devote the Special Show to an innovative field of the ACHEMA spectrum. The theme in 2006 is “Service Providers for the Process Industries”. This acknowledges the increasing significance of the service sector for the entire process industry. “Service providers” range from logistics, transport, contract production, outsourcing, consulting, contract research and analysis, to financing, chemical parks and plant security. Internet-based services, such as e-procurement and supply chain management will also be represented.

The ACHEMA Congress: forum for application-oriented research

Outstanding research findings do not automatically become innovations. The exchange of ideas and experience with potential users and clients at an early stage is indispensable. The ACHEMA congress caters for this need. Around 800 lectures on themes from all exhibition groups and special lecture series on current research and development trends in all sectors of the process industries (chemical industry, pharma, biotechnology, food, etc.) will demonstrate the dynamic nature of this area. Technology, know-how and services for production today will be presented alongside strategies for successful development tomorrow.

A few keywords must suffice to give a brief idea of the congress spectrum: microreaction engineering, use of alternative solvents, industrial biotechnology, improved intelligence of technical machines and plant, responsible and cost-effective use of the resources water, air and energy, and renewable/recyclable resources. The full ACHEMA programme will be available in January 2006.

Panel discussions with distinguished experts will be held on ‘hot’ themes dealing with macro-economic and social aspects in a global context: emissions trading, the new EU chemicals legislation REACH, sense or non-sense of elite universities, and the topic with the farthest-reaching consequences: the foreseeable end of oil as the main raw material source of the chemical industry.

New: NAMUR Experts’ Round Tables and EU Cooperation Forum

From the chemical industry to biotechnology and environmental protection, the process industries are increasingly in the focus of automation technology. For this reason, from now on NAMUR (Association of Users of Process Control Technology of the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industries) will highlight automation technology at ACHEMA. Thus ACHEMA will feature two new events: the first Experts’ Round Table on concrete issues from instrumentation, control and automation technology, and the Cooperation Forum launched by the European Network of Innovation Relay Centres to initiate research and technology cooperations throughout Europe.

ACHEMA Recruitment Forum: job forum for exhibitors and job-hunters

The successful launching of the recruitment forum at the last ACHEMA provided the incentive to repeat it in 2006. The Recruitment Forum aims to assist exhibitors in filling vacancies and finding suitable next-generation scientists. This Internet-based service provides access to the unique pool of human resources that some 200,000 ACHEMA participants represent.

Job-hunters and exhibitors can check out www.achema.de.de/recruitmentforum before ACHEMA or get in touch at the centrally located information stand during the event. The forum will continue online thereafter.

International media cooperation to accompany ACHEMA

International media partnerships are indispensable to leading worldwide events such as ACHEMA. They guarantee a competent media service to all the branches of the ACHEMA exhibition profile. Two of the leading specialist publishers “Chemical Engineering” (CE, Access Intelligence, New York/USA) and “Process” (Vogel-Industrie Medien, Würzburg/Germany) have formed a special partnership to cover ACHEMA for “ACHEMA daily”.

Information on ACHEMA is regularly updated on the Internet at www.achema.de.
