Well-Known experts present on this international info day on November 11, 2004 in Frankfurt/M. (Germany) the first overview of the state-of-the-art of "Micro Bioprocess Engineering" worldwide.
Only recently has bioprocess engineering on a microscale emerged as a means to increase the speed of bioprocess design. The driving forces are developments in high-throughput screening, the automated identification of lead compounds, and more and more automated combinatorial and genetic techniques for the efficient creation of large libraries of recombinant biocatalysts on the one hand, and the increasing pressure for faster time-to-market on the other hand.
The focus will be on microbioreactors and microbioreactor arrays from single cell cultivation up to parallel cultivations on a mL-scale, integrated sensing and control, and automation for high-throughput bioprocess design. The speakers will outline recent achievements and challenges and discuss the impact on the future of bioprocess design in detail.
