In acknowledgment of his exceptional services towards developing ACHEMASIA and the invaluable cooperation between SINOPEC China Petrochemical Corporation and DECHEMA Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology e.V., Frankfurt am Main, Professor Cao Xianghong will be awarded the ACHEMA Plaque in Titanium. This honour will be conferred on him in Beijing during the festive Opening Ceremony of the 6th ACHEMASIA on 11 May 2004.
Professor Cao is Honorary Chairman of CIESC Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China. He is Director and Senior Vice President of Sinopec Corp., which has been one of the Supporting Institutions of ACHEMASIA since 1989 and has since sat on the Honorary and Organizing Comittees. Mr. Cao Xianghong has shown great commitment for the intensive participation of China in the first World Council of Chemical Engineering (WCCE) with respect to education and training in Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Cao graduated from Nanjing Chemical Institute in 1967, specializing in high molecular chemistry. He is a professor level senior engineer and an Academician of the China Academy of Engineering. He has over 30 years of management experience in China's petrochemical industry. From 1984 to 1997, Mr. Cao served as Vice President and Chief Engineer of Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Company. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Cao was President, Vice Chairman and Chairman of Beijing Yanhua Petrochemical Co. Ltd. He was Vice President of SINOPEC Group from April 1998.
Meanwhile since the first event in 1989, ACHEMASIA has developed into the most important exhibition for the chemical processing industry in Asia. It is an integral part of the ACHEMA Worldwide concept. This involves three exhibition- congresses on three continents in a three-year cycle: ACHEMA in Frankfurt am Main/Germany, ACHEMASIA in Beijing and ACHEMAMERIA in Mexico City.
