Welcome to the Dutch website
of the EFCE Working Party on Education
This website offers you useful information and links related to the Education in Chemical / Biochemical Engineering in The Netherlands.
- The Dutch system of education has a primary school (age 4 -12 yrs) followed by different types of secundary schools preparing pupils for university education (VWO -6 yrs), higher professional education (HAVO - 5 yrs) and other forms of education. More information about all kinds of education can be found on the webpage of the Dutch Ministery of Education.
- Chemical / Biochemical Engineering can be studied at Universities (of Technology (more oriented to science and research) and at Institution of Higher Professional Education (more orientated to applications). The universities offer a two cycle programme (bachelor - 3 yrs and master 2yrs), while Institutions of Higher Professional Education offer a bachelor degree programme of 4 years. Here you will find the site of The Dutch Organisation of Process Technology which is a cooperation of universities and institutions of higher professional education involved in chemical engineering and process engineering.
- The Dutch Graduate School on Process Technology (OSPT) is a co-operation between universities, who all work (Education and Research) in the field of Chemical / Biochemical Engineering.
- Traditional Universities of Technology, working in a broader field of Chemical Engineering, including Process Engineering, Biotechnology, Polymer Engineering, Catalysis, are the three Universities of Technologies (3-TU's) in the Netherlands Delft, Eindhoven and Twente.
