Call for Nominations
The Second European Workshop on Food Engineering and Technology
will be held in
Paris, May 26 – 27, 2008
The workshop will be organised by the
Section on Food of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE)
in cooperation with the
European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST)
and
ENSIA Massy / Agro Paris Tech

According to the decision of the members of the EFCE Section on Food, an European Workshop on Food Engineering and Technology will be organised every year with the best PhD students of Europe presenting their recent results.
The First European Workshop on Food Engineering and Technology in Berlin, 21 – 22 May 2007, was very successful. 15 young scientists of 10 countries, who will finish their PhD in food engineering and technology soon or have recently received a PhD, have presented their papers. All candidates were selected by their national expert committee or organisation responsible for food engineering and technology. The scientific quality of the workshop was excellent. At the end of the conference

got the
JULIUS MAGGI RESEARCH AWARD 2007
for the very best paper, selected out of many excellent presentations. The award of 2500 Euro, which has been approved for the next workshops, was sponsored by Nestlé Product Technology Centre Singen.

nominate excellent candidates
for the second workshop in Paris and send the documents of the candidates to your national organisation responsible for food engineering and technology
before June 30, 2007

The
national organisations are requested to select the best candidate and to send their nomination
(large countries may nominate two, a large host country three candidates) to the chairman of the EFCE Section on Food (see
www.efce.info/section/food
)
before September 15, 2007
including the following documents: Name, address and CV of the candidate, name and address of the PhD supervisor (including the university and department), the title of the paper and an abstract (max. 400 words) of the suggested presentation.
The basic selection criteria are the following: The candidates should be no older than 35 years and should finish their dissertation in 2007 or in the beginning of 2008. Any subject on food engineering and food technology is welcome, if the work and the results are of outstanding quality. Scientific excellence and a very good presentation of the results are the main criteria for the nomination.
