EFCE Excellence Award “Industrial Crystallization”
Call for nominations
The EFCE has established Excellence Awards to recognise PhD Theses or publications of young researchers which demonstrate the most outstanding contribution to research and/or practice in the scientific fields of the EFCE Working Parties. This prestigious prize will be presented for the first time to a researcher in the field of
crystallization
on occasion of the 17th International Symposium on Industrial Crystallization (ISIC 17), which will be held in Maastricht, NL, from 14 to 17 September 2008.
The award comprises:

A certificate
-
A cash award of 1500 Euros
-
A travel grant to attend ISIC 17
The award winner will be honoured during a special plenary session and given the opportunity to present his work at the conference.
Eligibility
The award is presented to researchers or engineers in the early stage of their career, who have made excellent contributions to crystallization in the process industries.
Nominations may be submitted by
-
PhD supervisors at a PhD-awarding institution in an EFCE member country, or
-
Members of a national or regional member association of EFCE
No more than one nomination can be submitted by the same person.
Self-nominations are excluded.
The nominated PhD thesis or publication must have been published during the three calendar years preceding the closing date for nominations (30 April 2008).
A nominated PhD thesis must have been examined and the PhD degree awarded.
Nomination procedure, supporting documentation, closing date
Nominations should be submitted as PDF files to the ISIC award committee

by 30 April 2008
They should be submitted as a single package and must contain the following information:

Name and address of the nominee, his/her supervisor and the institution
-
Title of the PhD Thesis or the nominees publications
-
Date work commenced, PhD awarded and Thesis or Papers published
-
Note that this date must fall in the period of three calendar years prior to
30
April 2008.

Three letters of recommendation (no more than two pages each), from the supervisor and two independent referees from different institutions, outlining the key contribution to crystallization research and/or practice and stating clearly why the Thesis the papers are considered to be truly outstanding and thus deserving the Award of Excellence.

An extended abstract in English (maximum 10 pages) containing a summary, the problem addressed, the state of the art, key results, applications or implementations.

At least one (but no more than two) refereed publications in English in either a journal or the proceedings of a well established conference series) with the candidate as first-named and primary author.

Upon request: A copy of the Thesis, as published (to be returned upon request)
