"2009 Student Mobility Award winners announced "

Winners of the EFCE Student Mobility Award 2009 


On the occasion of the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering in Montréal, Canada, form 23 to 27 August 2009, for the third time the Federation presented the biennial EFCE Student Mobility Award. The award consists of three prizes and seeks to promote mobility amongst European chemical engineering students. The prizes are awarded to the best European students of chemical engineering who have spent one or more semesters studying outside their home country.
 

1st Prize: Ms Natacha Bitinis, France
Ms Bitinis has studied at Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Industries Chimiques, France; Imperial College London, UK; and Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas/Universidad Menéndez Pelay, Spain, alongside a student placement with GlaxoSmithKline in Cork, Ireland.
In her essay she wrote: "Working and studying in different places in Europe helped me to get a broader view about what chemical engineering involves. ... Moreover, I believe that these experiences abroad have greatly developed my interpersonal skills and enriched my personality at a personal level."

2nd Prize: Mr Gerhard Landschützer, Austria
Mr. Landschützer completed courses of study at Polytechnic Universities of Cartagena and of Catalonia, Spain; Avans University, The Netherlands; and Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, during his Bachelor studies in industrial engineering and Master studies in chemical engineering and bioengineering.
In his essay he stated: "I very much enjoyed this time and made friends all over the world. Living together with people from other countries helped me a lot to see that despite cultural differences there's much more that unites us than that separates us."

3rd Prize: Mr Xavier Mesnier, France
Mr Mesnier has studied at Wageningen University, The Netherlands; University College Cork, Ireland; AgroParisTech, France; and Lund University, Sweden, during his European Master Degree in Food Studies.
In his essay he wrote: "Going abroad is being independent but also being capable to do team work. It is becoming more flexible and better at managing any problem you meet."

An international jury selected this year's prize-winners from 20 applicants representing 8 European countries on account of their excellent academic performance and a one-page essay about their experiences of studying in different countries. They were invited to attend the 8th World Congress of Chemical Engineering as guests of EFCE.
 


Winners of the EFCE Student Mobility Award 2007

On the occasion of the 6th European Congress of Chemical Engineering in Copenhagen, Denmark, for the second time the EFCE presented the Student Mobility Award. Three prizes are awarded to the best European students who have successfully studied chemical engineering in first or second cycle study programmes for at least one semester in each of two or more different countries.
The award jury selected this year's prize-winners from 42 applicants representing 10 European countries on account of their excellent academic performance and a one-page essay about their experiences of studying in different countries. They were invited to attend the 6th European Congress of Chemical Engineering in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2007 as guests of EFCE.

1st Prize: Mr Daniel Weber, Germany
Mr Weber obtained his degree at TU Braunschweig, Germany, after also studying at ENS Paris, France, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and MIT Cambridge, USA.

2nd Prize: Ms Stefanie Demming, Germany
Ms Demming studied at TU Braunschweig, Germany, where she obtained her degree, after also studying at CPS Zaragoza, Spain, and UT Compiègne, France.

3rd Prize: Ms Ana Isabel Carvalho, Portugal
Ms Carvalho obtained her degree at IST Lisbon, Portugal, which included studying at DTU Lyngby, Denmark.

Winners of the EFCE Student Mobility Award 2005

On the occasion of the 7th World Congress of Chemical Engineering including ECCE-5 in Glasgow, UK, on 14 July 2005, for the first time the European Federation of Chemical Engineering presented the EFCE Student Mobility Award.
An international jury selected this year's prize-winners from 44 applicants representing 13 European countries for their excellent academic performance and for their account, in a one-page essay, of the experiences while studying in different countries. They were invited to attend the Chemical Engineering congress as guests of EFCE.

1st Prize: Tobias Kraus, Germany
 Tobias Kraus studied at TU Munich, Germany, where he obtained his degree, and also at Cambridge, MA, USA and Neuchatel, Switzerland. 
2nd Prize: Laura Diaz Anadon, Spain
Laura Diaz Anadon obtained her degree at UMIST, Manchester, UK;
she also studied in Stuttgart, Germany.  
3rd Prize: Lyonel Ehrl, Germany
Lyonel Ehrl studied at TU Munich, Germany, where he obtained his degree, and also at Santiago de Chile and Novocherkassk, Russia.
