Excellence Award in Crystallization

 
Winner of the EFCE Excellence Award in Crystallization 2008

Dr. Pedro Miguel da Silva Martins is the winner of the EFCE Excellence Award in Industrial Crystallization 2008 His PhD Thesis on " Modelling Crystal Growth from Pure and Impure Solutions - A Case Study on Sucrose " completed at the University of Porto under the supervision of Professor Fernando Alberto Rocha, was selected by an international jury as the best thesis in terms of innovativeness, breadth and depth of research, and its industrial relevance.

 
Pedro Miguel da Silva Martins received his Master degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal. Currently, he works as a post-doc grantee of the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology at the Instituto de Biologia Molecular e Celular, Porto, on the  research project "Protein crystallization for pharmaceutical, biochemical and biomedical purposes". 

The award was presented on the occasion of the 17th International Symposium on Industrial Crystallization- ISIC-17, held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, from 14 to 17 September 2008.
