On the occasion of the 8th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (ECCE-8) in Berlin, Germany, on 25-29 September 2011, for the fourth time the Federation presents the biennial EFCE Student Mobility Award. The award consists of three prizes and seeks to promote mobility amongst European chemical engineering students. The prizes are awarded to the best European students of chemical engineering who have spent one or more semesters studying outside their home country.

1st Prize: Mr José Carlos Pardo-Torre, Spain

José Pardo-Torre obtained his degree at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, after also studying at Imperial College London, UK, and the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology, Jena, Germany.
In his essay he wrote: "Studying abroad is certainly something that makes a student learn more and better, and in my opinion any institution that looks to give the best to its students should offer and encourage this possibility."

2nd Prize: Ms Anne-Lise Rousseau, France

Anne-Lise Rouseau studied at ENSIC, Nancy, France, where she obtained her degree, after also studying at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany, and preparing her diploma thesis at the Air Liquide Research & Technology Center, Frankfurt, Germany.
She stated: "I realized how research and projects can bring cultures together. Having something in common helps to minimize prejudices against each other and are undeniable assets for the advancement in science and technology."

3rd Prize: Mr Uwe Zang, Germany

Uwe Zang obtained his degree at TU Darmstadt, which included studying at The University of California, Berkeley, USA, and a research project at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
He wrote: "Going abroad truly enriched my life and changed me for the better in so many ways. I am sincerely grateful for all the people who supported and accompanied me on this journey and I am extremely glad that I took those chances.
