Dr. Levente Simon received his diploma in Chemical Engineering Diploma from the Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and his Master's degree in Chemical Engineering Technology from the University of Twente, The Netherlands. In 2007 he completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at ETH Zürich, Switzerland in collaboration with Ciba Specialty Chemicals. Between 2007-2011 he worked as senior chemical engineer researcher at ETH Zürich establishing the PAT assisted separations technologies sub-group in Professor K. Hungerbühler's group with focus on crystallization process analysis. In 2010 he won the "Crystal Growth Detection System" innovation challenge on the InnoCentive® platform.
Dr. Simon recently joined BASF Schweizerhalle AG where he works as Separations Technology Specialist. More information about his former research activities at ETH can be found here: http://www.sust-chem.ethz.ch/research/groups/separation_technologies
The award was presented on 15 September 2011 on the occasion of the 18th International Symposium on Industrial Crystallization (ISIC-18), held in Zurich, Switzerland, on 13-16 September 2011.

Pedro Miguel da Silva Martins received his Master degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto, Portugal. Currently, he works as a post-doc grantee of the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology at the Instituto de Biologia Molecular e Celular, Porto, on the research project "Protein crystallization for pharmaceutical, biochemical and biomedical purposes".
The award was presented on the occasion of the 17th International Symposium on Industrial Crystallization- ISIC-17, held in Maastricht, The Netherlands, from 14 to 17 September 2008.
